Take Your Shower To The Next Level- My Nighttime Shower Routine.

Best-shower-routine-for-nighttime.jpg

These days, the thing that excites me the most is putting my kids to bed, and getting my me-time in the shower. I genuinely look forward to that time for myself. I often get asked what I do for self-care, and honestly, one of my favorite things to do is to take a shower at night and do my full body shower routine. Pampering myself in the shower is the most relaxing thing for me, and it is my way to decompress from a busy day. So in today’s post, I want to share my night time shower routine and some of my favorite products to use!

 1.     REMOVE MAKEUP
The first thing I do before getting into the shower is to remove my makeup. I like to use a makeup remover wipe because it's quick and easy. The Ole Henriksen Truth On The Glow Cleansing Wipes is one of my favorites. I also love the Neutrogena makeup remover wipes. If you are not into wipes and like to oil cleanse, I also enjoy using Origins Modern Friction Cleansing Oil. Removing your makeup before the shower allows for an excellent facial while in the shower.

2.     SET THE MOOD
Listen, 50% of a good shower routine is the mood you set. Break out your candles, sit them around the shower or bath and turn on some good music. I have a whole Spotify playlist that I play while I am in the shower. It just sets the mood and it makes me feel more at peace when I am listening to my favorite slow jams. I like to listen to my music on this waterproof Bluetooth speaker. I also think it is essential to have a good shower head. I have this rain shower head from Amazon, and it is fantastic. It has just enough water pressure, plus the water falls like rain; it is the perfect relaxing shower head to make you feel good.

3.     ADD ESSENTIAL OILS
I love to add lavender oil to my shower during the night because the smell soothes and relaxes me. Lavender is used to promoting relaxation and balance, which will help you sleep better. Another oil that is great to use in the shower is Eucalyptus oil. It is excellent aromatherapy.

4.     IN-SHOWER BODY CARE
While in the shower, I use several products on my body. For soap, I love to use Dove; it has been my old faithful for years. I love how gentle it is on my skin, and that it doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry. I exfoliate my body with European Wax center Graceful Strut Body Polish. I like to use this on my bikini area, legs, and underarms because these are the areas that I get waxed. The Graceful Strut exfoliator helps prevent bumps, ingrown hair, and it also slows the growth of hair between waxes. For the rest of my body, I like to use Dove exfoliator or Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish. Both are great, the Fresh brand is a little more pricey, so I use that one more sparingly and want I want a more luxurious experience. The Dove body polish is used more frequently throughout the week.

 5.     SKINCARE
While in the shower, I also like to do my skincare routine. If you don’t already know, I am working on a line of skincare products, so; I currently use my own facial cleanser when I’m washing my face in the shower , but I would recommend using a gentle face cleanser. Also, exfoliate your face 2-3 times a week.

6.     POST SHOWER MOISTURE
Immediately after getting out of the shower,  I slightly dry myself, and then I like to seal in all of that good moisture. I use Aquaphor spray ointment. I love how I can easily spray the oil onto my body, and it leaves my skin feeling moisturized and not sticky. I hate feeling sticky, going to bed. I also finish up my skin routine with toner and moisturizer. Then I finish my whole routine by spraying on a light body spray.

Having a full shower routine and getting that much needed time to destress is the perfect thing to decompress and get ready for bed! I look forward to doing this routine daily. Do you have particular items or products you use in your routine?
