Three Tips that helped me lose 20 pounds in three months

 

On February 16th, I looked into my full-length mirror, and I was not happy with what I saw. I was 178 pounds, and I just did not feel like myself. I was six months postpartum, and I was ready to get back active and lose the baby weight.

 On that day, I committed to a three-month journey of regular exercise and healthy eating. Not only did I commit myself, but I also inspired a group of over 750 women to join me in the journey, which I called #BoldNFitTribe.

 Here I am, three months later, and twenty pounds lighter!! I am so proud that I hit my goal. I worked hard these last two and a half months. Due to the quarantine these last two to three weeks, I lacked the motivation to want to work out and eat well. So technically, the last two weeks of my journey were not the best, BUT despite this, I still was able to reach my goal. I do want to pick myself back up and get re-energized, and not let my journey stop here. I want to continue to keep up the hard work to remain healthy.

 Here are the top three things that I did during my fitness journey to lose the weight.

1.     Consistent Exercise
This is a given, but working out consistently is a must to lose weight and tone the body fast. Pre-social distancing,  I worked out daily. I loved going to the gym and doing the work out classes. I frequently visited my YMCA and LA Fitness to attend their Bootcamp classes. I am the type of person who desires group workouts. I love to be held accountable and to be challenged by others- this is why working out the gym helped me so much. Now with being in isolation, it has challenged me A LOT, but I would have to say my favorite at-home workouts are from the YouTube Channel Mad Fit. She has the best at-home exercises that do not require a ton of time or equipment. She also has fun workouts to songs that I love. So my first advice is to find a workout routine that you can commit to doing at least 3-4 times a week.

2. Weight Watchers (WW)
Joining the Weight Watchers program was essential for me because I am not the best eater. I struggle with finding healthy meals, so I needed something that would give me structure and meal plan options. I love that WW helped me tracked my food intake and also gave me healthy meal options. I would recommend joining WW if you too struggle with eating healthy and sticking to a diet.

3. Cut Dairy
Not only did I track my food intake with WW, but I also decided to cut dairy during this journey. This helped TREMENDOUSLY with losing the weight fast. When I say, cut the dairy, I mean no milk, cheese, butter, nothing!! This was super hard for me because I love me some dairy products, but I also found that it packs on the weight. When I cut dairy, I instantly saw a change in my body and my skin. I would recommend cutting dairy if you can during your fitness journey.

 That’s it; those are my top 3 tips that helped me lose the weight quickly! I would also have to say that being active with my #BoldNFitTribe community was also added motivation to keep going and keep pushing! I would also recommend getting an accountability group or partner that can help motivate and keep you accountable during your journey.

 I look forward to not letting this journey stop here. My goal is to still get my six-pack back by summer!!
